Polish Open 21-22/09/19

Champion Open 5/05/19

BIG Team down to Dublin for Champion Open 2019.

Lots of great results and medals all round. Zoey & Karson performances of the day for the Team after Rachel beat Team GBs No.1 Holly Kelly.

German Open 31/03/19

Coach Brian, Rachel and Leah travelled to Hamburg for German Open. Friday 29th was weighin day. Team sweat it out along side the Chinese National Team.

Sunday was fight day. Leah up first and beating Sweden 29-27 coming back in last round from 24-8 point gap. Taking Germany on in next round a fight she could have won only feeling sick from the fight 10 mins earlier missing out on a medal.

Rachel put up another excellent performance up against a tough Denmark Team. Close 1st and 2nd round but getting beat points in last round.

This was Rachels first Junior Fight and Leahs first G1 win. So good performances so onto next one.

European Championships 01/12/18

Rachel Kerr set out on 27th November after months of preparation for her hunt of European Glory. Flying out from Dublin to Barcelona and a 300km drive to Marina D’Or. The resort was like an Olympic Village with everyone there being there for the European Cadet Championships. Meeting lots of old and new friends is what makes this a great sport.

Saturday morning couldn’t come any sooner. Feeling 100% and confidence was buzzing. Rachel with Poland in first match. Having studied her we where ready. Warm up and keeping sharp when the call came through. Ring 4 Rachel blue against Julia Szpak of Poland. Final score after a tought fought fight 20-9. Rachel was winner throught to last 16 players.

Next up was Germany Roja Rezaie last years European Gold Medalist. Ready knowing this girl was going to be tough. Losing first round 12-2 giving too much respect. After a word with coach Brian (Daddy) Rachel put up a better performance by pushing Roja back winning the second round 4-3 bringing the score to 15-6 she had a big task in the last round. Chasing the fight giving it everything she had with no fear Rachel went out 25-8. But the respect she has earned and lessons learnt has boosted her confidence. Making a new friend Roja and with the German Team showing their respect they marched past all shaking her hand telling her excellent fight.

Returning home 3rd Dec with pride, experience and a new friend. Coach said he couldn’t be prouder!!.

TTE Open 27/10/18

Friday 26th October a Team of 6 from Belfast travelled to Dublin to fly out to Holland for the 2nd TTE Open in Amersfoort.  Rachel Kerr, Leah Kerr, Zoey Kerr and Jodie McCrudden all representing Ireland at this Tournament. Brian Kerr Coach and Camera man Dylan Kerr.

When arriving at the venue on Saturday the place looked amazing with 6 rings all set for Generation 2 Daedo scoring systems.  First thing was to find our corner to park all our gear and get ready for the long day ahead.  400 players plus spectators this was a big venue. Someone as small as Zoey age 9 could have found it intimidating….but she loved it!  All girls got changed and protective equipment on before warming up and stretching. Some light pad work to get the legs moving. Closer to the fights the intensity was raised.

Coach Brian says he couldn’t be any happier or prouder of the performances from the Team as a whole.  And looks forward to Rachel representing Ireland at Europeans in Spain in December.  Thanks to Alexander Boyd Displays for their generous support and all our other sponsors who make everything possible.

After a busy few weeks 5 Players from Team Extreme Ireland travelled to Dublin on the 13th of for a weekend of Seminars with Master Ji Pyo from Sweden and the Spainsh Kyrougi Team.
Final Results showed Team Extreme Ireland have two new 1st Dan Black Belts Rachel Kerr and Zoey Kerr only 9 years old. Odhran Braham got received his 2nd Dan Black Belt.  Leah Kerr and Nathan Kerr both earned their 3rd Dan Black Belts.

Coach Brian said it was not a case of a few weeks training but years of preparation and training to get to where they are today,
After Rachel and Odhran had test matches with the Spanish Team with the new Olympic Generation 2 Daedo Body Gear which scores electronically the points from kicks to body and head.  After 3 hours of sparring with an elite Team they all shook hands and made new friends.

Rachel Kerr is in prpeparation for the Cadet Europeans in Spain in December where she has been selected to represent Ireland.

TKD Championships 07/10/18

After months of preparation the 1st Belfast Open TaeKwonDo Championships took place on Sunday 7th October 2018 in the new refurbished Olympia Leisure Centre at the grounds of Windsor Park Football Stadium.

Teams from as far away as Greece, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Iceland and Finland all showed great interest.  So there was no pulling out we had to do this. From booking the hall, setting a date, getting medals trophies, first aid etc all had to be done.

HUGE THANKS to support from ALEXANDER BOYD DISPLAYS in Lisburn who without their help this could not have happened.

First fight 10am was Brian Kerrs Daughter Rachel who has qualified for the Irish Team and will represent Ireland at the European Championships in Marina D’or  Spain from 27th November until the 3rd of December.  Rachel won a silver in March at the Dutch Open G1 (Olympic Ranking Tournament). Her first time fighting in Belfast and after two matches she won GOLD and Best female of the Tournament.

Fabian from Belgium brought two fantastic kids who both proved tough opponents for anyone put infront of them. Was a pleasure having your Team Sir.

Great skills showed from Rachels brother and sisters taking gold Leah Kerr, Nathan Kerr and Zoey Kerr. Other outstanding performances was Odhran Braham, Enya Robinson, Emma Madden and Jodie McCrudden.

Over 100 matches on the day. But the match of the day had to go to David Doyle from Sport TaeKwonDo Dublin against Barry Richards from Yung-Gi TaeKwonDo in Maghaberry. After a long exciting day with some very tough matches the competition finished at 5.30pm.   Best players of the Tournament David Doyle, Rachel Kerr, Ruby Byrne and Ben Nugent. Last this to be announced was the nail biting Best Teams award.

3rd Place  - Sport TaeKwonDo Ireland
2nd Place – UTA Northern Ireland
1st Place – Team Extreme Ireland.

The response from everyone has made it all worth while and making this tournament a huge success. Roll on 2019 when we want to go BIGGER!

Thanks to everyone for your support especially Alexander Boyd Displays. And all the Teams who made this a huge success and enjoyable event.

Paul Green & Gareth Brown

High performance coaches Paul Green - double Olympic champion coach and Athens Olympian himself,  Gareth Brown - European Games Champion coach, have been developing athletes in Team GB to the optimum level for over 8 years.  Their achievements as coaches surpass that of any other, and have been recognised globally as Olympic Gold medal Mussabini and best European team coaches.

The level of their talent extends to developing athletes from diverse backgrounds of kickboxing and ITF taekwondo and shaping their talent to achieve some of the highest accolades in Olympic Taekwondo making history. This is evident in the individual and team awards including European Team Champions 2016. They are now offering their time, dedication and insight into the skills and methodologies used, into services that they can offer you.

We where lucky to have the opportunity to have these talented coaches in Belfast before they set off on their next venture in Colorado Springs where they will coach Team USA.  Having fought against and along side these Atheletes Paul and Gareth where willing to come take a full day seminar on behalf of Team Extreme Ireland.

Arriving on the morning of the Seminar and flying out same day there was no time for messing about. So as soon as they arrived at the new state of the art Olympia Leisure Centre in the same grounds of Windsor Park Football Ground everybody was ready. First before everyone wrecked their hair we did the Team Photo, then from there we started with a game of bulldog and a high intense warm up. 60 players from all over Ireland playing and training together under one roof with two of the BEST Olympic coaches in the World in Belfast…who would ever have thought it. The first session kept at the high pace working of flexibility and hip strength. Followed by partner work with full kyrougi protective gear doing drills and games.

We had 1 hour break for photos, autographs and questions. Where some of the smaller children had trained hard enough and decided to watch the second session where the intensity picked up even more.

Quick warm up then into tactical learning.  How to, when and where to do different attacks and counters with full protection and partners. Learning to work under pressure with multiple partners, the Team where starting to feel the pace but keeping it enjoyable and interesting everyone pushed themselves.  Four and a half hours of training very quickly went by and only touching the surface of what these guys had to show. We finished with Team Matches and there was some great talent from all over showing what skills they had and what they had learnt from the day’s training.

At the end we did a quick fire question and answer to see who was paying attention and to answer any question people had to ask.  Few more photos then Gareth and Paul where off to the Airport.

Thanks to Gareth and Paul for a terrific days training and the response from everyone was unbelievable. Everyone enjoyed and learnt from these guys and I would highly recommend people use their knowledge before its too late!

Thank you to everyone for your support and thank you Gareth Brown & Paul Green for your time.
